The National Federation of the Blind of Ohio Cincinnati Chapter Meeting Minutes for January 27th, 2024.

>> The meeting was called to order by President Gloria Robinson at 1:35 PM In attendance were Board Members Dave Perry Vice President, Gary warren, Frank Bragassa, Chris Windham, Emily Pennington Treasurer, and Christopher Sabine Secretary. Chapter Members: Lisa Hall, Haley Thurston, and Tammy Mcrae. Ilissa Clark, and Jason Revely attended as guests. However, they both expressed an interest in joining the Chapter. After they both recited the NFB pledge, they were voted in unanimously..

>> Emily Pennington gave the Treasurer report.  There’s $325 in checking account. No expenses or revenues, since the last meeting. President G. Robinson asked for a motion to approve the Treasurer report.

>> MOTION: Dave Perry/C. Sabine To approve the Treasurers report as presented. Passed Unanimously.

>> President Robinson asked for a Motion to approve the Cincinnati Chapter November 2023 minutes.

>> MOTION; E. Pennington/F. Bragassa To accept the November 2023 Chapter Meeting Minutes as presented. Passed Unanimously.

>> President G. Robinson explained that most Chapters and divisions are only charging $5.00 for dues while our Chapter is charging $10.00 she then asked for a motion to make the Cincinnati Chapter dues $5.00 annually.

>> MOTION: D. Perry/G. waren That the Chapter dues be changed from $10.00 back to $5.00

>> President G. Robinson encouraged all members to get dues paid as soon as possible. Emily Pennington shared that everyone could pay their dues, through cash app, Venmo, or mailing a check.

>> Dave Perry discussed fundraising for the Cincinnati Chapter encouraged all to participate if at all possible. President G. Robinson promoted the Valetines Dance scheduled for February 10th, 2024. Additionally, she promoted and encouraged people to attend the the spring Ball scheduled for April 27th, 2024

>> Dave Perry gave legislative update by reminding everyone that the Washington seminar would start on Monday January 29th,2024. One of the big items on the agenda is that SSI and SSDI should function the same for example with SSI for every two dollars over is one dollar owed so it is a phase out model to eliminate the earnings cliff from SSI.

>> President G. Robinson appointed Chris Windham as Chair of  The All Around Cincinnati Committee to visit different businesses throughout the Cincinnati area to evaluate customer service and assistance for the blind and report back to the chapter.
