Hi all,

Here are the minutes from our last meeting.

5-18-14

The meeting was called to order at 6:40 PM. People present were Shon, Becky, Marty, Beth, Daniel and Melissa. MELISSA pulled up the agenda and she and Marty will get together and put together the final copy of the agenda in the next few days. Daniel asked if any one wanted an NFB shirt at $25 a piece. These are being sold by NAGDU. He will write Marion and let him know that we can't afford an order of 12 shirts at this time. It was also decided that the COAGDU board will get together after the seminar at a location to be determined. Regarding RSVPS, Shon stated that Mike from Guiding Eyes is still coming, and he will also come back for our state convention. He also said that the Springs Chapter will provide transportation for at least four or five people from Colorado Springs. James Knight from the senior program has also RSVP'D. Shon will RSVP for all of these people since they do not have email. Daniel talked with Natalie who will be one of the presenters and he has RSVP'D for her. Melissa has Natalie's address and will send this to Shon so that we can get her a braille agenda and a flyer. Shon indicated that a lady named Linda is coming from the Littleton Housing Authority and Rita from the ADA Center of Colorado is also still coming. Jessica Beechem will present about legislation and Steve Patton will present on guide dogs vs. canes. Becky said that she has confirmed someone from RTD to speak from 10:30-11:00 AM the morning of the seminar. Her name is Lisa Trujillo. She will have her assistant with her as well. Becky also said that Pizza Hutt will donate pizzas, but they will need a head count in order to determine how many pizzas we will need. Melissa said that Penn was supposed to get the list of RSVPS to her by this upcoming Tuesday. We have decided to finalize the count Tuesday and then add five to ten extra on if we need to in order to be on the safe side and have enough food. Shon will call Cosco and ask if they will be willing to donate sodas and he has also checked with Wayne Marshall to see if we can get soda at a lower cost. Shon has also asked Julie if the center could donate a shirt or something as a door prize and will follow up on this. Melissa said that Marion Gwizdola will be our representative from NAGDU via phone since all of the board members who were willing to come out have other commitments that day. Shon has also received more brochures from GDF and Guiding Eyes. Our rep from Guiding eyes is also interested in doing Juno Walks at our seminar. Jenn has finished brailleing out all of the tickets for our rafle and Beth will hollow up with GDB to see if she can get a response from them about at least sending literature for distribution. Regarding the groomer, Beth has called a couple of places, but has not received any calls back. She suggested leaving the 1:30 PM slot open so that current handlers can talk about how we groom and do things with our dogs. In discussing the agenda, the only person that needs to speak between 10:30 and 11:00 is the RTD rep. We will try to make the agenda work out the best we can without rearranging everything. Becky will send Lisa an email tonight asking for her phone number so that we can find out from her directly when she would like to speak and so that we can get to know her better. Beth suggested that Becky call the RTD businness office to get in touch with Lisa and will text this number to Becky if she remembers it. Jenny has joined the call at about 7:05 PM. We moved to discussing the bffling out were agendas and it was decided that we will see how much of the brailleing Antonio is able to do and that should he need help, we will see if we may be able to provide Beth with paper so that she can braille out some of the agendas at school if necessary. Regarding Juno walks, we decided to have a signup sheet when people register. We also decided to have name tags. Beth will ask Brad if he would be willing to come for the 30 minutes of registration or if he would be willing to help us do as many of the name tags as we can before hand. Beth will look at Target for these labels. Brad has said that he is willing to come in and help with the name tags at registration. Jenny will be the greeter at the seminar. Becky asked how we would get the food to the center, and Shon said that Pizza Hutt usually delivers and that Romanos may want us to pay a delivery fee if they need to deliverthe pasta. Becky will call Romanos tomorrow and ask if they can have the food ready on May 30th so that Beth can pick it up and it will be at the center on Saturday. Regarding money for making change, Melissa will go to the Wellsfargo and get the change on Friday afternoon. Jenn said that she would be willing to take names and money for the rafle. Regarding set upofthe room, Shon asked for help setting up the tables and chairs. We do not know if Penn has any door prizes. Shon will check with Good "times to see if we can get something from them, and Daniel will check at Starbucks. Shon will also check into donations of doughnuts from Lamars/Winchels/My Favorite Mufin. We decided that we would have a quick meeting next Sunday May 25th at 6:30 PM to tie up loose ends. The meeting was then adjourned at 7:55 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Marty Rahn, Secretary

NFB of Colorado, Greeley Chapter
