> The meeting was called to order at 4:05 PM. People present were Marty, Rene, Maryanne, Paul, Melissa S., Maurine and Libby. Millad and Sandy were present as guests. President Kevan asked if we would like to do monthly calls and if so, when. Rene suggested Sundays at either 4:00 or 5:00. We then turned to thoughts on state Convention. Paul said he was excited to see what comes up I in the next year. Livy stated that she liked that there were so many guide dog schools in attendance. Maurine said that she liked that all of the dogs were well behaved and awesome. Sandy stated that her sister had seen two guide dogs jump on one another while in harness. Kevan suggested that we as a division take more of a role in taking care of logistics of setting up the relief area. Paul asked if there was any extra cost associated with setting up the convention relief area. Rene stated that there was no additional cost at this convention. Millad asked about a designated trash can. Melissa S. suggested getting puppy raisers involved. Kevan suggested having a committee to work on supporting State convention. Melissa G. joined the call at 4:15. Tracey Jones joined the call at 4:10. Sandy and Kevan will chair the committee for supporting state Convention. We next moved to a report on the rideshare committee. Paul is shooting a video, and Rene is offering a phone number where people can call and report their positive and negative experiences with rideshare companies/drivers. The video will show people step-by-step how to find the form for reporting either positive or negative experiences, and how to put this form in the same folder as your ridesharing apps so that you are more inclined to report right away. These reports need to be guide dog related when using a rideshare service. Regarding the phone number, it will be one where people can either leave a message or text. The number will be going live by December 15th. Kevan suggested having people on the national level trained to answer not only calls from the hotline, but also those on ridesharing reports. There is already training on the national level for working the hotline. Paul will let us know when the next training will be. Ellie Carlson joined the call at 4:30 PM. We next turned to the brainstorming of things we want to do in 2020. Melissa G. suggested that we continue working on our public education campaign for public businesses regarding the law and legitimate service dogs. Paul seconded letting business owners know their rights regarding the questions they can ask, Etc. Maryanne asked Sandy whether she had received the documents Maryanne and Paul had sent out regarding the rights of business owners. Ellie stated that she had done several presentations for various groups and that there were nice visual aids already available online. Rene suggested having a committee to see what’s available online and what we can put together that has our brand and can also be used for promotional purposes for COAGDU. Kevan, Melissa G. Ellie, Sandy, Marty, Maryanne and Tracey will work on this project. Ellie stated that she would do a call on which she would present this information so that we could all be trained on how to do this. We do need to identify a good communication track. Paul, Ellie and Kevan will work on doing a video of Ellie’s presentation. The other aforementioned people will work on the handout portion. Kevan stated that Comcast is willing to produce one 30 second commercial for our affiliate free of charge and that COAGDU could potentially get in on this in some way. Regarding our Treasurer’s Report, Maryanne stated that we have $70.81 CURRENTLY . This lead into a discussion of fundraising. Maurine made the suggestion that we get people to sponsor our guide dogs in the upcoming 6 Dot Dash on May 31st. Kevan suggested working with the schools to get a partnership going. Kevan will look into this. Maryanne, Maurine an Kevan will form this committee and will work on this project. Millad  brought up the idea of having a meet and greet at a bar or brewery for people to get together and as a fundraiser. Millad will research two local bars for this. Melissa brought up the guide dog pens and it was decided that Melissa G., Maryanne and Kevan will work on determining whether this fundraising avenue is making us money. Rene and Kevan will work on getting down the logistics of the upcoming anniversary of the ADA in July. Rene still has jewelry and is hoping to have a Facebook sale soon. Ellie suggested nail trims, or photos with guide dogs or puppies for donations. Melissa s. and Kevan will work on setting up a Puppy Kissing Booth at the 6 Dot Dash. Marty will create and send out a list of committees and action items. The next meeting will be scheduled later. The meeting was then adjourned at 5:15 PM.
