Adams County School District 50 - Westminster, CO

Classification: INST03 ($15.37-$19.00 per hour)

Minimum Qualifications:
*Possess an Associate Degree, two years of college (48 credits) or have passed the Paraprofessional PRAXIS Test prior to start.
*Experience or desire working with Special Education students.
*Certified Braillist credential from accredited institution required (NLS certification)
*Prior related work experience preferred
*Experience working with diverse cultures, backgrounds abilities desirable

Job Responsibilities:
*To transcribe print materials (e.g., classwork, books, homework, school bulletins, student handbook, RTD routes, etc.) into Braille using manual brailler or computer software. Emboss, reedit, and bind material using various methods and edit. Transcribe student’s Brailled material into print so that the classroom teacher and parent can read it.
*To assist students in classroom settings, including dictating what is on the blackboard, describing pictures that are shown, describing videos, adapting classroom work, helping students navigate the classroom, etc. Provide on-the-spot graphics.
*To work with students individually or in small groups to practice and reinforce Braille writing, reading, comprehension skills, computer, keyboarding and other academic and functional skills deemed necessary by Vision Teachers.
*To commute between student sites, office and warehouse and accompany students on field trips and to after school activities to provide assistance. Provide transportation when needed. May include out of town or overnight trips. Transport TVI Instructor between schools as needed.
*To assist the Vision Team with student vision and/or hearing screenings
*To perform office clerical tasks including: filing, ordering supplies, making and receiving phone calls, scheduling appointments for screenings, maintain accurate screening records, entering and updating results/data in ESIS, making copies, completing and mailing referrals to parents. Maintain confidentiality of all records and results
*To perform other related duties as assigned by the Vision Specialist, Special Education Coordinator and/or Director
