It's simple Jim.  Such articles teach the sighted that blind people
never progress beyond the point that these Girl Scouts  do in the
article.  They already believe this ecause they've closed their eyes
and imagined how desperate and helpless they would be, and the article
confirms what they believe.  In fact, the media continue to do these
stories because they believe it too.
