A Seminar for People who are Blind or Visually Impaired


 


Career and College Day


 

Date:  Friday, March 10th

Time:  10:00 am to 3:00 pm

Location:  Colorado Center for the Blind, 2233 W. Shepperd Avenue,
Littleton, CO 80120

 

The Colorado Center for the Blind invites you to make connections that will
work for you in planning and achieving career and training goals.  The day
will offer breakout sessions on various topics, a keynote speaker and an
exhibit hall where you will find any number of useful resources.  Best of
all you will be able to meet successful blind people in a variety of fields.
Lunch will be provided.

 

Who should attend?

*         People interested in exploring what type of career to pursue

*         Job seekers

*         Those planning to attend college or going to graduate school

*         Anyone who wants to be inspired

*         Learn about the services that are offered through the Colorado
Division of Vocational Rehabilitation's Blind and Low Vision Services (BLVS)


*         Meet representatives of local employers, both small and large

*         Learn about employment opportunities with the federal government

*         Practice your interviewing skills

*         Pick up tips and tricks for dressing for success 

*         Develop skills to make networking fun

*         Play with the latest in assistive technology, and talk with
vendors about how AT can work for you in career and college 

*         Meet staff members from community colleges, colleges and
universities

*         Learn about resources like Bookshare, Learning Ally and more

*         Get tips and resources to help you plan to be successful in
college
