Hi Becky.
Sounds like you need a tech eval. I use a braille sense, and my braille
edge, and my phone. I like the braille sense, because I have to attend
lots of meeting for my job. It is really much faster for me, I don't have
to mess with the phone and the braille display. I found my tech eval very
helpful. I guess I am old school and have to have other ways to act with
my tech. It was a good thing the other day that I had a back up such as
my phone at work, when my U2 Menni crashed and I lost everything. Yet, I
somehow got the flash disk back. Later that day. Curtis made some good
points. I suggested a tech eval, because this way you can try out stuff.
Its something to think about. With your future plans. Just my two cents.
Sincerely,
Melissa R Green and Pj

Hello Becky:
I very much agree with the observations made here by Scott Davert. I would
only add that before any money is spent, you need to decide exactly what
you
hope to achieve with whatever braille technology you will acquire. In my
view, using a braille device to perform the sophisticated functions we
take
for granted on our computers and iPhones is counterproductive since these
specialized technologies do not seem to be able to keep up with advances
in
mainstream industry. As for me, my only interest in braille was to have at
my disposal a device that would enable me to take and review braille notes
and, ad at the same time, holding large amounts of information that I
might
need to retrieve and review quickly. For example, when I went to the
Colorado state convention, I copied the agenda into my Orbit Reader 20 so
that I could search for specific activities that I wanted to attend.
Another thing to keep in mind with regard to braille displays is that
these
devices are a bit more fragile than something like an iPhone or a
computer,
and the cost of repair is often quite high.
Sorry if all of this sounds rather confusing.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Cordially,
Curtis Chong

Hi all ,
i need some advice. I have been in touch with the lions club of denver,
and
they would be able to help pay portion of a brail note taker. I was
wondering what kind i should get and where ? If they will only pay for
half
should I try for a brail display instead ? what are all of your thoughts
?
Becky
