L. Rattek, Dr. Chas. F. Shollenberger and Lewis D. Stockton. Cloud H. Bryan

Feb. 8- 38. There being no alterations or corrections the minutes were
ordered approved as read. The next order of business was the reading of the
financial report by Sec. Young which showed a balance on hand Feb. 1- 39,
$95.56. There being no alterations or corrections it was regularly moved by
Mr. Rathborne and seconded by Mr. Rattek that the minutes be approved as
read. Motion carried. The next order of business was under the head of
reports. The Pres. then ask Mr. Rathborne to report on the sales class
which is being conducted by our Association to aid the blind in
salesmanship, the class being conducted by Glen Harris. Mr. Rathborne
reported that the members attending these meetings were very enthusiastic
and he felt that they were getting a great deal out of the classes. Mr.
Rathborne gave a demonstration on one of the articles being sold by the
blind, this being a comb cleaner. This article is very practical. He also
explained a plant which is being sold by the blind, explaining that the
plant at first seems as though it is dead, but by placing it in a bowl of
water it becomes green, and this article should also be a good seller for
blind salesmen. Mr. Rathborne was highly enthusiastic, stating that he
feels the salesmanship classes are highly successful. Pres. Wilcox reported
that he had sent a check No. 1938, to the Rotary Brush Co. for a quantity of
the comb cleaners, the Pres. stating that the check had cleared thru a bank
at Detroit, Mich., and was endorsed by the Rotary Brush Co., but up to this
time the merchandise ordered from the above mentioned company was not yet
received in this office, this causing the board some concern. It was
thought advisable to communicate with the Rotary Brush Co. to ascertain the
cause of the delay in the shipment of merchandise ordered from them. Mr.
Rathborne then reported on the Steven's will, stating that it had been
postponed from the 7th of March to March the 14th 1939. Mr. Rathborne
stating that he would give this matter his full attention. Mr. Rathborne is
to be congratulated in the way he is handling this matter. Pres. Wilcox
reported that he had written the Blind Brotherhood of Maryland Incorporated,
in reference to the use of white canes by the blind of Colo., the Pres.
stating that he had answered all questions asked in the communication of
Jan. 18- 39. The Brotherhood is trying to secure information concerning the
use of the white canes thru out the United States. The Pres. announced that
he had secured a quantity of ladies new hats from Mrs. Hoffman's Ladies Hat
Shop, these hats to be given to any deserving or needy lady in our
Association. There being no further business appearing before the meeting,
the board then went into a general discussion, after which the Pres.
