[Colorado-Talk] Access-on-Demand and the Denver International Airport

Hello ReNae:

If Access-on-Demand is going to be available statewide, I have yet to hear anything official about that. Certainly, the model used in Denver is one that other paratransit programs would do well to examine and emulate.

Respectfully,

Curtis Chong

Curtis,

This is great news! I was in a meeting yesterday and someone mentioned that access on demand would be available statewide, wherever paratransit is available, starting in 2024. Do you have information on this?

Hello everyone:

I am pleased to send you the email (shown below) which I received from Paul Hamilton, Senior Manager of Paratransit Services for the Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD). The good news is that Access-on-Demand customers are now able to use Uber to get to and from the Denver International Airport. The not-so-good news is that RTD still needs a bit more time to get the Lyft service operational.

I first raised this issue with RTD on January 19. While Access-on-Demand paratransit customers could use Uber and have the cost of trips subsidized up to $25, they were not able to arrange Uber trips to or from the Denver International Airport but had to ride to the 61st and Pena garage.

It has taken more than a month to get this issue resolved.

Here is an excerpt from RTD’s Access-a-Ride website: https://www.rtd-denver.com/services/accessaride.

“Effective February 24, 2023, Uber service is available at Denver International Airport. Customers wishing to use this service may now go directly to and from the airport. Please follow the location in formation in the Uber app.”

Please spread the word.

Respectfully,

Curtis Chong
