Arapahoe and 16th Streets Intersection Closure
The intersection at Arapahoe and 16th streets will temporarily close as soon as March 20 and will remain closed for approximately one month. Arapahoe will become a two-way street between 15th and 16th streets and between 16th and 17th streets during the intersection closure, with a U-turn required at the 16th Street Mall intersection. A temporary signal will be installed at 17th Street. On-street parking will be limited along Arapahoe Street. Business and residential access, including access to parking structures, loading docks and surface lots will be maintained. Renovations to start between Curtis and Champa streets
As soon as March 27, you can expect to see full construction fencing placed between Curtis and Champa streets, marking the start of the 18 months of reconstruction work.
Work days and hours are anticipated to be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Weekend work will occur between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Material deliveries and staging may occur overnight. Work and schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.
Here’s what you can expect during the first phase of activity, which will last approximately 13-14 months:
* Work begins in the center transitway area.
* Pedestrian walkways and access to storefronts will be maintained on both sides of the Mall, but walkways will be narrower.
* Curb-to-curb fencing will be installed initially and will move out as construction activities change.
* Fencing will surround the work site and include signs to direct people traveling on the Mall.
* Gates and flaggers will be on-site at intersections to direct drivers and pedestrians as needed.
* All businesses will remain accessible.

The RTD Free MallRide shuttle continues to run during the 16th Street Mall Project, rerouted to 15th and 17th streets until the project is complete.
