Hi Elizabeth,

So sorry to hear that you are feeling frustrated. I used to be a VR counselor and would be happy to talk with you outside of this discussion list if you would like. You can contact me at juliazanon at comcast.net.

Subject: [Colorado-Talk] Don’t feel respected at work

Hi all,

I wanted to bring up some concerns with others who might relate to my situation.
Lately, I have been feeling suspicious at work, and one of the reasons is because I started teaching recently since October.
It has been very hard to get a hold of my supervisor because a 1099 form that I need for taxes. I have been emailing him constantly. And he has not replied. And I understand that they might have other jobs outside of being the Director of the organization I work for. But I have noticed when talking to a colleague that works in the same location as me that he responds quite quickly to her texts.
I am not making much money here, and it is basically $268 a month. So and I also feel that I’m not treated as another colleague here, because I am in my early 20s, and the other colleagues are much older.
And whenever I would bring up my tax form to the colleague that works with me in the location, she would kind of brush it off, and told me to contact the supervisor, and then she told me that he basically he gets back to her very shortly.
So I have been emailing my supervisor for more than two weeks now. And he only got back to me once, and said that he needed my Social Security number, and I emailed him back several times now, and said I would give it to him only over the phone. He has not replied to me.
He does not understand that I do need help with this situation that I have to rely on others to help me fill out my taxes, that I might have to rely on volunteers, because I can’t afford to pay someone to do my taxes for me.
So, I’m wondering if I should find somewhere else to work, and if I should resign from this position. But, a lot of the other bigger positions that I looked up require two years of teaching experience. Which I do not currently have.
Does anyone have any ideas of other teaching positions that I should pursue?
Thank You
