Greetings dear friends and colleagues,

In recent years we have been holding the Olympic City chapter meeting on the second Saturday of the month. This seems to be a good day and time for many. Huge thanks to Jeanette, Joann, Brian, and many others for their work in the Olympic City chapter. Over the past year, I have been contacted by a few blind and low-vision people in our area who are not able to attend the Saturday morning gathering. These are people with families and or younger working people. It has been suggested that we consider trying a weekday evening chapter meeting downtown. I have consulted with our state president she indicated the willingness to support the possibility of a second Colorado Springs area chapter. The purpose of the effort is not to take away from our Saturday morning Olympic city chapter. It will simply be to offer an alternative for all members of NFBCO and those new members we may attract to become even more engaged in the work of the organized blind movement. I am seeking input. Please email or call me if you are interested in discussing the development of a second chapter in Colorado Springs. I for one, am often traveling on weekends for the federation or other business and political work. I have even been approached by at least 3 of our current Olympic City members indicating their wish to try holding a meeting, early on a weekday evening downtown. I have secured 2 possible very nice meeting locations in the heart of downtown. Last Spring when our downtown library was still open and available, we held a couple of special project committee meetings there. They were attended by 6-8 members. I think this might be a good springboard for a second chapter. We would like to see how this effort might grow our movement! Please email kevan at nfbco.org<mailto:kevan at nfbco.org> or call 303-929-2369 to give me your thoughts on the matter. Please also share with any other blind people you know in our area. We realize there may be some transportation issues meeting on a weekday evening downtown. However, I am confident that we have the capacity and imagination to work through all of those if we have the interest and the will to do so. This should be a fun, challenging, and productive effort. It will be very cool to have 2 active chapters in our area. If Denver Metro can have 4, we can at least have 2. Lets give it a shot! Thanks in advance for your input.
