[Colorado-Talk] RTD Board Shakeup

Hello

I am interested in thoughts from Gary and others who serve us through being
really smart when it comes to transit. I can definitely see benefits to the
proposal. I think we need to negotiate that one position be filled by a
person with disability to make sure access is considered in every decision
especially as many in our community have no driving option.

I am all for better and more effective service but I worry when we talk
about shrinking a service area and focusing more on the city. Does this
mean folks who have put down roots in certain areas will loose the ability
to move about freely? How do we make sure that while creating greater
efficiency, blind folks don’t get harmed in the process?

I think paying board members for their time will allow better oversight and
greater accountability so I am not opposed to the idea but I want to make
sure we advocate to make sure our voice is not left out or undervalued when
decisions are being made. These are just a few quick personal thoughts
after a very fast first reading and do not at all represent an
organizational position. I am also very interested to hear what others
think.

Best Wishes

Jess
