Greetings friends and colleagues,

As you know NFBCO president Jessica Beecham has authorized the organization of an additional chapter in Colorado Springs. The downtown COS Chapter organizing committee is proud to announce our first organizing meeting. You are invited! One and all! Monday evening April 15th from 5:30 until 7. We will meet at Avenue 19. Avenue 19 is, what is commonly referred to as a food hall. Formerly Tejon St Eatery. Located at 19 N Tejon. It is between Kiowa and Bijou streets on the east side of N Tejon. It is now home to Upstate Pizza, The Vegan joint, Firebird Chicken, a fabulous gyro stand, a full bar and much more. Folks who are attending will receive an armband. This will allow for free Pizza at Upstate Pizza and a couple of free beers or sodas at the bar. We will have folks to greet you and show you around.

We are really excited about this new venture. The Olympic City Chapter has built a foundation and carried the federation torch forward for 2 generations. The Olympic City Chapter typically meets on the second Saturday of the month at 10 am. The new chapter will complement their work, find ways to collaborate and expand our presence and advocacy. We will warmly welcome our federation buddies from the Olympic City Chapter. We ask each of you receiving this note to spread the word. Let's encourage all blind and low-vision people from throughout EL Paso County to come to our organizing meeting and see what the National Federation of the Blind of Colorado Downtown Chapter is all about!

At the meeting, we will consider the following, purpose of the federation, structure of meetings, organizing effort, downtown meeting location, constitution, annual dues, elect organizing committee/chapter board of directors. We will set some short-term priorities. First priority will likely be chapter-building but we will want to think about a couple of initial projects to get our work on behalf of blind and low-vision people started.

If you have special needs? If you have questions? If you have transportation challenges? Please get in touch with me, Kevan Worley, Chair, NFBCO Downtown Chapter organizing committee 303-929-2369, or email me directly kevan at nfbco.org<mailto:kevan at nfbco.org>.

If you are blind, low vision or work in the field of blindness or have a family member who is blind or low vision please join us. We look forward to building a dynamic downtown chapter. Together with love, hope, and determination. We will build the National Federation of the Blind in downtown COS and we will continue to transform dreams into reality.

At your service,
