Upcoming Utility Work Between Wynkoop and Blake Streets
Sanitary line work between Wynkoop and Blake streets will begin as soon as tomorrow (Tuesday, April 8), and will last through late-April. Initial activities will include the staging of project equipment between Wynkoop and Blake Streets and a various lane closures on Blake Street.
As soon as Wednesday, April 9, 16th Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic between Wynkoop and Blake streets – this will include full intersection closures at Wazee and Blake streets and changes to the RTD Free MallRide route. Please note, traffic impacts in the Blake and 16th Street intersection will last through mid-May due to additional concrete work.
What to Expect
Blake Street at 16th Street: Various lane closures will begin as soon as tomorrow (April 8).
* At least one southbound lane will remain open on Blake Street until the full intersection closure begins.
16th Street between Wynkoop and Blake streets: Full vehicular traffic closure (as soon as April 9 to late-April)
* 16th Street will be fully closed to all vehicular traffic between Wynkoop and Blake streets. Please see the detour map.<https://cig-pr.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=fc34ba15e6547b8d998f63f6a&id=726c3444c3&e=0e4069ae0b>
* All alleyways between Wynkoop and Blake streets will be one-way-in and one-way-out.
* Vehicles can enter alleyways from 15th and 17th streets but will not be able to continue through to 16th Street. Instead, they will need to back out and leave the way they entered.
* Delivery and pick-up delays are possible, so please allow extra time.
* Pedestrian and business access will be maintained.
Wazee and 16th streets: Full intersection closure (as soon as April 9 to late-April)
* Wazee will remain a two-way street between 15th and 16th streets and between 16th and 17th streets during the intersection closure, with a U-turn required at the 16th Street intersection.
* On-street parking will be limited along Wazee Street.
* The intersection will remain closed 24/7 for the duration of the work.
Blake and 16th streets: Full intersection closure (as soon as April 9 to mid-May)
* Blake will become a two-way street between 15th and 16th streets and between 16th and 17th streets during the intersection closure, with a U-turn required at the 16th Street intersection.
* A temporary traffic signal will be installed at 17th and Blake streets.

* On-street parking will be limited along Blake Street.
* The intersection will remain closed 24/7 for the duration of the work.
General notes:
* Business and residential access, including access to parking structures, loading docks and surface lots will be maintained.
* Crosswalk closures will occur at various intersections throughout the closures listed above, with three of the four crosswalks open at all times.
* Please refer to signage and flaggers for closure and detour information on-site.
* Travel delays are possible so please allow extra time.

RTD Free MallRide Detour Routes
During the closures detailed above, the RTD Free MallRide route will shift several times to create a safe work site during set up and tear down, while keeping the shuttle on 16th Street for as long as possible as work progresses.
From April 9 to 11, The RTD Free MallRide shuttle will be detoured to 15th and 17th streets with temporary stops between Wynkoop and Larimer streets. The shuttle will travel on 16th Street for three blocks between Larimer and Curtis streets and return to 15th and 17th streets between Curtis Street and Civic Center Station. Flaggers and signage will direct travelers to the detoured route.

From April 12 to 21, the MallRide shuttles will operate on 16th Street between Wynkoop and Curtis Streets. The MallRide will continue to be detoured to 15th and 17th streets between Curtis and Civic Center Station during this time. Expected Work Hours
Workdays and hours are anticipated to be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Weekend work will occur between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
A noise variance was approved in January 2024 which allows work to take place throughout the night under specific circumstances<https://cig-pr.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=fc34ba15e6547b8d998f63f6a&id=5612cc18b2&e=0e4069ae0b>. Affected parties will be notified 7 days in advance if night work will be taking place.
Heavy equipment may operate between hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., any day of the week. Material deliveries and staging may occur overnight. All project activities and schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.
