We invite all Denverites and Coloradans to be part of this momentous celebration as we unveil the completion of this reconstruction project that has enhanced accessibility and infrastructure, expanded amenities and "moments of joy," and preserved Downtown Denver’s iconic main street.
Join us for an all-day celebration beginning at 11 a.m. as we reveal our completed 16th Street, which is better than ever and ready to create new memories for future generations. This is your moment to join in the experience what promises to be an extraordinary day of community celebration!

With granite pavers completed on the south sidewalk, Phase 2 work is progressing quickly between Cleveland Place and Broadway (Block 13). Phase 3 of renovations is scheduled to begin the next couple of weeks. This uniquely shaped block includes a granite water feature (shown above, left).
During Phase 3, the project team will complete any final, small-scale work while the Downtown Denver Business Improvement District (BID) begins installing the final furnishings, fixtures and equipment along 16th Street. The installation of the final touches including furniture, planters, trash cans and other special elements that will introduce the New Look on 16th Street may occur after Phase 3 of construction is complete, depending on the BID’s schedule, timelines of deliveries and weather. These activities could have safety fencing or cones around them, but only in the area where crews are working.

The 16th Street FreeRide will continue to be detoured to 15th and 17th streets between Curtis Street and Civic Center Station until the entire 16th Street Mall Project is complete. Upon completion of construction, RTD will remove the detour, and the 16th Street FreeRide shuttles will fully return and run on the center transitway along 16th Street.
