Here is our action alert
Dear Community,
There’s an urgent need for action today to protect Medicaid from federal
cuts. We need you to send an email AND make a phone call TODAY!
*What is happening:*
The U.S. House of Representatives is set to vote on a budget resolution
tomorrow (4/25) that contains $880 billion in cuts to Medicaid. That is 11%
of the federal Medicaid budget. A budget resolution is a blueprint that
sets out spending and reductions in the federal budget. If this resolution
passes, it is a very serious first step towards catastrophic cuts to
Medicaid. If this budget resolution passes, the House will then start to
lay out, in detail, how they will cut Medicaid.
*BUT we still have an opportunity to stop this budget resolution from
moving forward!* If we are able to do that, we will be dealing a HUGE
setback to the people in Congress who want to make deep and harmful cuts to
Medicaid. Stopping this budget resolution NOW is the best way to protect
Medicaid.
*What you can do:*
- *Email your Representative*. Even if you have already emailed, please
email again! We have made it easy to email your member of Congress with this
action form
<https://ccdc.nationbuilder.com/r?u=nR1H1uT49G-GSH0dzAY0EHKoZUnu-AaceeYl9tiY7MkWY7bQBNWgYE-SHGsaty-e3gzSjevMtVvGd4ayQKpp8Q&e=edba24540a72206d08ba7e58b36f6c44&utm_source=ccdc&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=u_s_house_set_to_vote_on_cuts&n=1>
.
- *Call your Representative*. Even if you have emailed, please also make
a call! *If you need to find who represents you, the number for the
Capitol switchboard and a phone script, you can find all of that in
our **Medicaid
Defense Toolkit*

*.* Tip: the document is very large with a lot of sections. We’ve
created a table of contents to help make navigation easier. If you don’t
see the table of contents when you open the document, hover your cursor
over the dot and lines icon in the upper left corner of the document. When
you see the words “Table of Contents” appear, click on that and the table
of contents will appear on the left hand side of your screen.
- Share your Medicaid Story. We are collecting stories from our
community to share with members of Congress and, if you give us permission,
on social media to help highlight the people that will be hurt most by deep
cuts to Medicaid. If you have a story to share with us, you can do that
HERE.
