Greetings NFB of Colorado!

HB26-1043 is scheduled to be heard at the state Capitol on Feb. 19 by the
House Business Affairs and labor Committee. This is the rideshare
discrimination bill that we’ve been working on with Rep. Gretchen Rydin of
Littleton.

HB26-1043, Transportation Network Company Discriminatory Practices will
require Uber and Lyft to put an easily located and identifiable reporting
button on their platforms for riders who experience discrimination, remove
the “written report” requirement for riders, and increase the fines for the
companies from $550 to $5000. Also, the companies would have to report
denials and complaints monthly instead of annually and the Public Utilities
Commission would publish these statistics (without any identifying rider
information) on its web site.

Obviously, the NFB of Colorado will be coordinating testimony before this
committee, but for those of us who may not give testimony, we need to pack
the hearing room on Feb. 19! So, please mark your calendars if you can
attend in any capacity.

If you are interested in giving testimony, please contact Jessica Beecham,
jbbeecham at gmail.com or Dan Burke burke.dall at gmail.com so we can have a good
idea of who will testify.

And stay tuned for more info coming up!
