The A Line on the Light Rail goes out there and so do several busses that stop directly at the terminal.

The storm does specify that if people are chosen, they will receive a Visa gift card. It does not say what the amount is, but they are thinking about compensating people for their efforts.
Mostly that is not the reason we should be doing this anyway. I signed up to be a volunteer, and hopefully I will be able to do it on July 3 when I have off from work.

Good morning Curtis and everyone else receiving this email.
Firstly, Curtis, thank you for letting us all know about it, and it was great reading your comments about how poorly This was handled by the representatives of the GoodMaps team and anybody else directly involved in trying to put this together.Additionally, over and above the overlap with the NFB conference there is yet another thing that was not considered. This is the fact that many of us visually, impaired and or blind people have very limited disposable incomes , and it is quite costly for us to get out to the airport. From what I and others have read, there was not even any offer of paying for the transport to the airport. Due to the fact that this product could be very helpful to blind people, many may consider going, but due to the lack of information as well as the approximately $40 round-trip cost if using the paratransit to the airport, many people are going to just plainly say I could care less no thank you. It's a real shame.
Again, no political correctness from me as I tell it just like it is. I truly believe that GoodMaps are really going to miss out as there is such a large Blind community here in the greater Denver Metro area, not to mention we have the Colorado Center For The Blind and a huge variety of ages and visual impairment Levels.
Thank you and best regards

Thanks for sharing the thread with DEN officials.
Brian, nice to hear from you. Don't think tha testing while traveling is the best choice. They have a plan on a particular concourse and say it will take 60-90 minutes. Julie and I have an outgoing flight before 7 a.m. Not thinking they'll want to be there 5 a.m. to let me test, even if I wanted to get up at three to be there in time!
Look forward to seeing you in Austin!

Subject: Volunteer Opportunity: GoodMaps Testing
Hello Celina:
I just read the text of the flier and am quite concerned that the testing period of June 22 through July 10 walks right over the National Federation of the Blind convention, being held in Austin Texas, which occurs from July 3-8. Many blind people from Colorado, including yours truly, are attending the convention.
Please see what can be done to extend this test period so that those of us who would otherwise be absent can participate. I myself will be leaving Colorado on June 30 and will be back in Colorado late on July 9.
The seemingly last minute nature of these communications and the (I’m sure unintentional) walking over our national convention gives ride to the kind of cynicism and suspicion that is not helpful in these endeavors.
Yours sincerely,
Curtis Chong

Hi Curtis,
Thank you for reaching out and for sharing your concerns.
The overlap with the National Federation of the Blind convention was certainly not intentional. We recognize that many members of Colorado's blind community will be attending the convention, and we understand your concern that this may limit participation in the testing opportunity.
While the Airport Access Team is not leading the GoodMaps testing effort, we have been working to help ensure that members of the blind and low vision community are aware of the opportunity and have a chance to participate. We appreciate you bringing this scheduling conflict to our attention, and we will share your feedback with both the GoodMaps and DEN project teams for their consideration. We will also advocate for an extension of the testing period to help accommodate those who will be attending the convention.
We also understand your concerns regarding the timing of the outreach. Our intent was to share the opportunity as soon as we received the information so that interested community members would have as much notice as possible.
Thank you again for your candid feedback and continued advocacy. We value your perspective and will ensure your comments are shared with the appropriate teams.
With gratitude and appreciation,
Hope Peña

Cordially,
Curtis Chong
