Greetings all –
Our Transportation Network Company Discrimination bill, HB26-1043 finally
passed out of the House Appropriations Committee this morning on a vote of
8-2.
It should be on the House floor on Monday for the second reading, where it
will be amended to eliminate any conflicts with Hop, Skip, Drive programs
that use rideshare. Those programs for school kids and people over 60
already have non-discrimination and reporting requirements.
The third reading has to be at least a day later. The third reading is the
final reading in the House, and if it passes, it will go over to the Senate
for first reading and then assignment to a committee where we’ll have
another hearing with testimony. After committee work in the Senate, it can
go back to the Senate floor for 2nd and 3rd readings. Passage on the third
reading means that it can go to the Governor to be signed into law.
Things are going to be tight because the legislature ends on Wednesday, May
13 – less than two weeks away. So, keep an ear open for more definite news
about a Senate hearing.
Best,
Dan
