[Community-service] Projects.

I think what people are talking about is the Green Drop project that's
starting in seven states, but expected to grow into others soon.
Jo Ann Wilson could tell you more, and you could contact her at the National
Center.

Well, I don't remember anything about Thrift Stores. If anyone does
anything with them, please don't let it be Goodwill. As we all know,
they're the worst offenders in the sub-minimum wage issue.

If anyone is interested, especially you, Darian, there will be two
teleconferences for the Human Services Division on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at
4:00 and 8:00 pm, Eastern Standard Time. The dial in number is 513-386-0000
and the participant access code is: 554254 and the pound sign.

I agree that we need to decide what we're doing and where we're going as a
group. I believe, however, that nothing happens within a vacuum, especially
in the NFB.

Regards,

Denise

At the communityservice seminar's organizing meeting (it was actually it's
own post-event). we came up with some ideas for projects.
One was a service project at m next year's covnention which a young
woman by the name of Kaiti Shelton took on.
If we are wanting to take on more projects over the year, this might be a
good time to start thinking them up and taking ownership of one.
we already have one person who serves on the human services division
board, and I think that it makes sense to have her be the point person on
this.
Michelle has brought up the thrift store idea. Might you want to be the
point person there?
if there are other ideas, please do keep the discussion going
and maybe we can see what other ideas people want to own.
Those people are the likely folks to take up true leadership of our
group and are most likely to be long-term contributers to a division, I'm
thinking.
If you might not want to lead but might want to be a vital Support
person, your work is just as needed and appreciated, as we are at our core
a membership organization.

If you wish to take the lead for a project, please contact me off-line, as I
want to be in close communicating with you over the coming weeks.
  Best,
  Darian
