Hi,
structured discovery is when you get instructions to do a task and figure it
mostly on your own.
You discover things as you do them but may mess up a lot as you don't know
what you're doing initially.

I know nfb centers drop you off in town and have you go on many solo routes.
IMO, that works fine if the person has the basic skills down and a since of
direction and other pre requisites. But, when you have someone who is
spatially challenged and has trouble with directions, its maybe not such a
good idea. I know my friend was hurt on mobility over there at lcb, and have
heard other stories about that.
Traditional instruction is hands on but a good instructor will gradually
decrease direct information and let you do more on your own as you progress.
I Eventually, they will let you do it all yourself while watching a cooking
task or route in O&M.
To me, this seems like a good and practical way to learn.

So that's what I see as structured discovery.

Ashley

Ashley,
What would you define as "Federation philosophy " and/or "structured
discovery "?

This electronic message has been brought to you by my mobile device.
