Hi adrijana, happy new year! I'm really glad to see your magazine is going strong. I am very impressed!

Okay as to your question about blindness skills. First, what kind of skills are taught to the blind in Macedonia, for example what about using a cane, adaptive technology, braille, etc.Second, what skill areas are the blind not getting any training in? Also, do you have programs at your universities for training teachers of the blind? If so, what are the strengths and weaknesses of these programs?

This is very interesting and I think a lot of people would want to help. I know the peace corps sends both blind and sighted people to other countries specifically to help the blind learn how to live independently. I personally have met two people, both blind, who served in the Peace Corps in Morocco teaching blind people there. I think they also trained other teachers of the blind while they were there as well.

I don't remember if I told you this already, but I myself am applying to a university here for their Teacher of the VisuallyIimpaired program. If I get in, will begin classes in the fall. I'm very excited about this. I want to do research in teaching ESL to the blind. I will probably have lots of questions for you on this topic!

So long for now. I will repost your magazine announcement to all the list serves, Service providers, blind organizations, and random blind people that I know. I am so glad for all your success! I look forward to hearing from you.

Your friend,
Michele
