[Community-service] red cross volunteering and barriers experienced

Hi Ashley,
I am a member of my local chapter of the American Red Cross.
First to address the signing up process. It was difficult. I was able
to do it with jaws, but not very effectively. When it came to
orientation and the videos I was able to watch them and when it came
to the knologe check quizzes the answers were scaddered throughout the
masses of unlabeled buttons. I would recommend that you get help. When
I was called for the intake interview I told them that I was visually
impared and they helped me fill out the rest of the forms such as the
background check and the availability forms.
On to what I do with the Red Cross. I am  in the disaster service
section. I specialize  in disaster service technology (DST). DST is
responcible for going on a disaster seen and setting up
communications. Everything from computers, radios, cell phones,
internet, sattalights, and managing every piece of equipment on a
disaster seen. We do more than that, but that is just a basic idea. I
also serve in Client casework. After a client and there family has a
disaster (home fire, up to a national disaster) I am responciple for
getting them resources and other things and helping them on there
recovery.
