Hi all,
  As you know, the principal purpose of the community service division is to encourage community service by the blind and service opportunities for the blind on a local level.
 this means that we want to empower the blind to use community service as a tool to raise expectations of the blind.
 another way to say this is we want to use community service as a way to build the federation.
 I need your help. I need your ideas on how we can use community service as a way to build the movement on the local level (in our chapters and affiliates).
 what are your thoughts?
 Please be in touch, please share on list!

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
 “We need your service, right now, at this moment - our moment - in history. I'm not going to tell you what your role should be; that's for you to discover. But I am going to ask you to play your part; ask you to stand up; ask you to put your foot firmly into the current of history” — Barack Obama
