Hi Darian thanks for your message. Yes even though I am not a member of the 
Federation I have heard the term alternative techniques. To me alternative 
techniques are different ways of acomplishing certain tasks. All three of 
the Nfb training centers teach their students to use alternative techniques 
on a daily basis. Explaining the use of alternative techniques means 
demonstrating how blind people can be involved in the community.
