Howdy Humberto!

Good questions! Foremost, thank you for your service and yes your volunteer efforts are considered as Virtual Volunteering, Every day, volunteers across the country lend a hand virtually, from computers, tablets, phones and other mobile devices. All you need is Internet access—and sometimes, just a phone. Moreover, The organization that your are volunteering with should be noted on your resume along with the time frame you volunteered.

We have a member that also volunteer by sharing tech tips to individuals. I will connect you all and please keep serving and we are here for you!

You can and should include your volunteer work as experience on your application.

Virtual volunteering includes but not limited to

Here’s a few benefits of volunteering:

Enhance your resume

It’s always beneficial to include volunteer experience and related keywords on your resume to help recruiters find you for relevant positions.

Provide career opportunities

More than ever before, organizations are less likely to hire someone without experience in their industry. Getting practical experience, even if unpaid, can lead to opportunities within an industry if that’s your desired career direction.

Unpaid to paid

Many volunteer opportunities can lead to a part-time or full-time position. Stay positive, be patient, and do anything you can to help the organization reach its goals.

Contribute to your community

Volunteering in an organization in your community such as a not-for-profit yields inherent personal and career benefits both for you and the organization you are assisting

If so, what evidence or wording should be suggested for this when applying for jobs and certifications? I ask this partly because I am considering being a Certified Assistive Technology Instructional Specialist for the Blind (CATIS) and they may require certain hours of work even as a volunteer.
