[Community-Service] Virtual Volunteering (revisited)

Howdy, everybody,

I know there have been some discussion around virtual volunteering already. I am just having a curious question about it.

So, would helping other people on mailing lists such as in those tech-related, be considered virtual volunteering? If so, what evidence or wording should be suggested for this when applying for jobs and certifications? I ask this partly because I am considering being a Certified Assistive Technology Instructional Specialist for the Blind (CATIS) and they may require certain hours of work even as a volunteer.
