Nina is from upstate New York and knows how to make the most out of life!
She loves to laugh, and playing with her silly guide dog Viggo, who she has
had for four and a half years now, is ever so precious to her. She also
enjoys navigating around the kitchen cooking and baking. You’ll find that
reading books is a part of her routine, along with spending as much time
outside as she can (unless it’s crazy snow season up there), and staying
healthy with her workouts.

Nina is also a determined student. She is a senior in college studying
psychology and criminal justice, with a concentration in family and
juvenile justice. She wants more and is applying for her Masters in
clinical mental health counseling, with the goal of working as a victim
specialist for a government agency one day.

Nina first became acquainted with the National Federation of the Blind,
back in October of 2018 at the New York state convention. She was truly
honored and humbled to have won a national scholarship award in July of
2019. Since then, she’s been working with students on a state and national
level and currently serves as Secretary of the National Association of
Blind Students.

Nina’s ultimate passion, lies within the work of community outreach. She
and her team first launched the NABS Now Podcast in January of 2020, and
now have nearly 9000 listeners from all around the globe! They also run the
Student Slate, which is a growing blog featuring all kinds of
student-written pieces. Their website www.nabslink.org

serves as an extraordinary wealth of resources for students and
non-students alike.

Outside of the NFB, Nina has been dedicated and working tirelessly with
emergency homeless placements and information referrals. She has a genuine
heart and has an incredible ability to connect people. She truly enjoys
being of help to others. Whether Nina is serving other students, the
federation, or her local area, her smiles, joy, and warmth for people is
leaving a lasting impression with everyone she reaches!

#BEAM with service and give a smile today!
