Dear BRS- BESB Program staff and community partners,

I am sending out a reminder that the public hearing for the BRS-BESB Vocational Rehabilitation Program state plan updates for federal fiscal year 2013 will occur today from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at 184 Windsor Avenue, Windsor, CT. Participants may come in person, or teleconference in to the public hearing. To participate by teleconference, please call me prior to the start of the public hearing at (860) 602-4008 to get the call in information. If I am not at my desk when you call, leave a message with your telephone number and I will call you back with the call in information. Gloria Soucy can also provide the call in information. Her phone number is (860) 602-4202.

I am pasting in below the previously distributed notice of the public hearing detailing the variety of options available for comments to be submitted. I am also pasting in a link to the state plan draft documents.

Additionally, the agenda for this Thursday’s advisory board meeting has been updated to reflect the board discussing the state plan and making recommendations to the Bureau regarding the content of the plan.

Notice of Public Hearing

The State of Connecticut, Bureau of Rehabilitative Services will be conducting a public hearing on Monday, June 11, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for the purpose of updating the State Plan that governs the administration of the Vocational Rehabilitation Program for individuals who are blind. The hearing will be conducted at 184 Windsor Avenue, Windsor, CT. The purpose of the hearing is to offer the public, consumers, advocates, agencies and organizations an opportunity to review and provide comments pertaining to the proposed State Plan annual updates. The State Plan annual updates are available for review at www.ct.gov/besb<http://www.ct.gov/besb>, under the Vocational Rehabilitation section. Print, Braille, and electronic copies of the State Plan annual updates will be available at the public hearing, or may be requested in advance of the hearing by contacting the Bureau at (860) 602-4008. Comments may be submitted in person or through teleconference at the public hearing, or may be submitted via email to: brian.sigman at ct.gov<mailto:brian.sigman at ct.gov>; mailed to Brian Sigman, Bureau of Rehabilitative Services, 184 Windsor Avenue, Windsor, CT, 06095, or recorded onto voice mail at (860) 602-4008. To participate in the public hearing through teleconference, please call (860) 602-4008 at least one business day prior to the public hearing to obtain the call-in phone number and access code. All comments received prior to the close of business on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 will be fully considered in the final version of the State Plan annual updates.
