Jen,

Let the programmers worry about the technical details.  As long as you can identify your needs and problems as an end user, that's all you need to do.

It's great that you want to play such an active and investigative role in this process.  Do you work in a technical field?  If not, it might be good for you.

In the end, though, I think that, for this instance, your time is better spent on the communication side of things rather than the programming side of things.

the graphics on the text and hack into others' accounts. How could this
security risk be addressed?
