Fellow Federationists:

I have thoroughly enjoyed serving as Legislative Coordinator of the National Federation of the Blind of Connecticut. As we all know, I have climbed the ladder of life and am now pursuing my dreams at the University of Wisconsin. I will always be from Connecticut, but I continue to transition my Federation involvement to our Wisconsin affiliate.

Edward Shaham has shined as a rising leader in our affiliate, and he and I attended our first state convention together in 2008. As soon as President Beth Rival and I knew that I would be making my transition, we began equipping Edward with the knowledge he needed to carry the torch and bring our affiliate to an entirely new level of legislative activism.

The appointment is not mine to make; it is up to Beth Rival to appoint our next Legislative Coordinator. I wish to express my sincere endorsement of Edward and look forward to working with him to change what it means to be blind in Connecticut. As a successful entrepreneur, he brings new skills to the table and will enhance our effort to achieve equality, opportunity, and security for the blind.

I will continue to serve on the Legislative Committee of the National Federation of the Blind of Connecticut and will be fully available to assist with the transition. Rest assured, I will put my heart and soul into my new role as Legislative Coordinator of the National Federation of the Blind of Wisconsin.

It is now in the hands of our President, Beth Rival. If Edward is indeed appointed Legislative Coordinator, we can expect great things. If another candidate is selected, I will respect that decision, as well, and look forward to our future. Thank you, my home affiliate, for your support and confidence as I have found a true passion in legislative advocacy.

Sincerely yours,

Justin Salisbury
Former Legislative Coordinator
The National Federation of the Blind of Connecticut
