Dear President,

The deadline for sending in your completed petition has been extended to
August 1, 2014. We realize the difficulty of assembling the signatures of
thousands of people and we need all the people we can get for the petition
to do its job in congress.

Please emphasize to your members that if they ever want to enjoy sports
reporting, this is the absolute best way to achieve it. The announcers are
never going to give us the numerical picture unless they are forced to by
congress. If they want an example of what they're going to be stuck with in
sports reporting everyone can tune it to the British Golf Open this Thursday
through Sunday early mornings and just listen to the reporting that ESPN
offers until they can't stand it or understand it.

We are also attempting to add the Blind Veterans of America to our project.
They are also interested in Audio Descriptive Presentation of Sports. They
may join us in August, after their convention. If anybody is having trouble
passing the petition around or having multiple members to sign it on your
site, give us a call or email and we'll assist you.

Thank you,

Louis Vodopya

We are on a crusade to improve sports announcing on television for the
blind. I believe the following petition will explain most of it to you. We
need as many signatures as possible. (Please return this to me ASAP)

We have been in communication with all of the sports announcers on all of
the networks for over a year now and it is obvious they will do nothing
unless a law forces them too. I have talked with the FCC who will implement
that law and they have told me there is already a complaint to this effect
and they will act on my bill as soon as it becomes law. We have talked to
several people in congress, namely Marsha Blackburn, and Lamar Alexander.
Marsha's people are excited about this and Lamar's are a bit hesitant, but
both agree a large petition from the blind community, and potential voters,
would do wonders for moving the bill along. Please let me know your feelings
ASAP.

If you need any more information, please let me know, Louis Vodopya

The following petition will be sent to Congress.

A bill is being worked on by Lamar Alexander's legislative assistant
William Knudsen in the Senate. It will also be handled by Marsh Blackburn in
the Capital House.

It could use all of the backing the blind community can give it. Please sign
this petition if you agree with it and place your name and state of
residency on the lines following.

Petition to Sports Announcers

We, the blind sports fans of America request that all sports announcers
describe sports using the numbers related to the activity. This is the only
way we can 'see' what is happening. The deaf have the benefit of Closed
Captioning, the blind have nothing. We can only tell what is happening if
you speak the numbers.

In golf, we need the driving and subsequent shot distances in yards and the
putt lengths in feet. We also need the frequent score boards and even the
individual score cards read by the numbers.

In football, we need the distances of the runs, passes, or kicks in yards.
The yard lines concern as the ball moves down the field and a regular update
of the scores. We also need a relatively close running of the score board
time, right down to play by play the last two minutes of each half.

In basketball, we need the score change every time a score is made, plus the
time at the two minute warning of each half or quarter.

These are the only sports that require a tighter numerical reporting from
the announcers.

You have helped the deaf enjoy sports despite their handicap. We all ask
that you help the blind to same degree.
