[Ct-nfb] Carol's Perspective Regarding Recent Comments

Good morning Kim, Carol & everyone else out there.
I am not sure if my comments are warranted here, but never the less I'm going to voice my opinion anyway.
Kim I must admit that I understand how you feel about your work being edited or denied.  However as you now know Lucia wasn't/isn't responsible for this. She doesn't or hasn't the power to decide what is printed, or what is not. Remember this is an organization of Blind people, and we make the decisions here. Unless like in Carol's situation we appoint a sighted person to run something for us. Which would be our decision to do so, and if we should we need to trust that her opinion along with a co-editor it's because either there are too many products, and they have to cut something, or it's just not written well enough, which has happened to me on many, many occasions.

On many occasions I have reached out to both Chris Kuel and Lucia for help with writing & grammar issues with things I've written, letters and other projects. Because to be quite honest as I'm sure you & others have realized I can't spell for shit, and my grammar sucks too. That being said I never give up trying, and I believe you should stick to this as well. I know in my case I have made improvements in what I say, how I say it, and why I say it. Sometimes like now I will rewrite, reread an e-mail several times before I actually send it.
I myself, am better with a hammer & screw driver than I am with a pen, or typewriter, (aka) computer. Please understand I'm not trying to hurt your feelings, just the opposite I wish to encourage you to keep trying.

As for you Carol, I personally would like to see you reconsider as federationist co-editor, your knowledge of grammar, and proper writing techniques are truly valuable, that is if we want our news letters to be professional.
As an armature writer, I like to think that my papers, articles even novel is imaginative, and well written, but truth is I have no real writing talent, but I have an incredible imagination, and that is a great start, but not always enough.
Lastly I believe including myself we should apologize to Lucia for all the extra things we ask her to do, and take a bit of time to thank Lucia, and Dianne for that matter for the great service they provide for our organization.
They're both more than paid employees they're at least in my case very close friends.
Thank you for reading this folks, and I hope my comments weren't offensive to anyone, but if they are, whoops.
take care all, and thank you so much for your help Lucia & Diane I can't imagine our state affiliate with out your help. God bless you both.
Be cool friends, and remember to smile some one out there beside me that is loves you all
Rich

This is a reply to Kim and everyone else who read the below comment by Kim.  Lucia had nothing to do with Kim's article not appearing in the newsletter -- what was that, almost a year and a half ago?  I, as co-editor of The Federationist at the time, edited the article to both fit the style of the newsletter and for grammar and accuracy.  Unfortunately, I was overruled and the article appeared as it also did in the Monitor.  I resigned as the co-editor because of this issue.  Having a degree in English and working in journalism over the years I believe qualified me to edit the article and print it as it should have been printed; but, the then-president felt I was not qualified and was only supposed to spell-check articles.  (Kim, there was nothing sneaky about this, but you did not speak to me.  Rather you went through the then-president and the other co-editor, who had nothing to do with my editing and producing the newsletter.)  So, please Kim, don't wrongly accuse Lucia, or anyone else for that matter, of doing something when you haven't investigated for yourself.  I would bet that everyone thought your new venture in motivational speaking was a very positive direction for your life.  I'm not so sure everyone feels that way now.  I would like also to say, in defense of Lucia and Diane, that they are not secretaries or administrative assistants for the members of NFB of Connecticut.  They run the office and keep the state affiliate in remarkable condition, given today's economy.  Before there was an office, members, including the presidents, did their own work, such as finding the phone numbers of local radio stations.  That was before the internet, believe it or not!  So maybe everyone needs to step back and think like Federationists.  If you can't find the phone numbers of radio stations, how are you going to find a job, or live independently, or be a motivational speaker?   Best regards,Carol Lemieux Sent: Friday, December 04, 2015 at 4:44 AM

Lucia,

You are right I should have talked to you, this goes way back to when you tried to not put my article in the news-letter. I recall that it was done in a sneaky way.
The president did not even know.
I felt that you really did not care for me. This is fine because in
life, we have to get along with people.
I know that I never did anything to you.
All I can say is "I am sorry" and keep it moving. I am not about to argue with you or any one else.

Kim
