Hello Miss Kim,

The email address that Kate gave for me is a good one: president at alumni.ecu.edu.

Our legislators need to hear from us, and I am so glad to have you eager to speak up on behalf of our fellow blind people.

There are many arguments and angles that can be taken on this issue, and that's a pretty common theme in the legislative work that we do in the Federation. I like to try to hit as many of them as I can as concisely as possible, but everyone has a different style. In my style, there's a tug-of-war between the content that I want to communicate and the desire to keep the email as short as I can.

The legislators need to hear from us over and over again, though. They get a lot of emails and phone calls, so it will be easy to forget about us if we are not persistent. One message from one member at one point in time is not likely to do the trick. It is only with our collective persistence that we have been successful in the past, and if that has worked before, I'm hoping we can do it again.

It is extra important that we communicate with our own personal local legislators. Every one of us has exactly one representative in the state house and senate. Communicating with major players, such as bill authors or relevant committee chairs, is good, too, but let's not underestimate the power of being able to call ourselves constituents. I have a pretty good relationship with State Senator Tony Guglielmo, a Republican from Stafford Springs, who covers my district. I will be sure to talk with him about this now that the bill has made it through committee. He's not on the committee, so I was previously focusing on the people who are on the committee, such as Co-Chair Ted Kennedy, and Craig Miner, the guy on the committee who has had a bullseye on these DEEP vending facilities for a few years now, even back to when it was just the DEP.

Do you need help figuring out who your local legislators are?

If there is anything more that I can explain to you, either write back or, better yet, give me a call.

Take care,

Justin

Hello Justin,
I was at the meeting last week for the bill 1061. I also wrote a letter and have asked Andrew Norton to keep me informed on blind issues. This was a issue because these people will lose there lively hood. As I said in the letter. The unemployment rate is extremely high among blind people . Do we really need to add to it?

I share this with you because, you tried to get me involved while in La. Finally I am ready to get involved.
So if you ever need my assistance you have it. I am very green at this therefore, would welcome your help,

Thank you in advance. for your time.
Have a great day!

Respectfully yours.

Kim
