I was wondering if this issue could be taken to the DOJ? I'd like to hear if anybody files a formal ADA complaint against the state of Florida. Please let me know.
Thanks,
Terry

Kevin, there has to be a petteran established of similar violations. Once there is a definite pattern, this individual should fial a FTA complaint against the provider. Margiedefginate

Yes, I believe this person has more recourse that he hasn't availed himself to like the DOJ, EEOC and so on.
Most certainly, all of his contacts have said this is a, "civil matter." With that advice, he needs to engage an attorney and start filing suits.
Sometimes, it takes a really "big" stick to get attention. Sadly I say that.
Best, Kevin

My understanding of the legal system is sketchy at best. I understand this
case deals with a state law, but I also thought that Taxi services are
public. Could this case somehow be reworked as something federal so the ADA
could be referenced? If not, what is the process by which a state issue gets
appealed? I thought that, at least in theory, any case could go as high as
the Supreme court, if you wanted to take it that far.

Hi all,
Please click the link below and read what I found to be a very disturbing
article about discrimination against a fellow guide dog user and her guide.
IMHO, the terrible attitude on the part of the police and prosecutors
involved here is a threat to all guide dog users. A police lieutenant had
the unmitigated audacity to claim that civil rights issues are separate from
law enforcement. Seems officials in this Florida county don't think too much
of civil rights or civil rights laws. I will resist the urge to expound
further on that point given all that we read about police in the news.
I do wonder how many other jurisdictions are similarly willing to dispense
with the enforcement of civil rights laws.

Please circulate the following message as widely as appropriate.
Sheriff's Office/State of Florida Condone Discrimination against Disabled
On February 11, 2016, in a stunning blow to the rights of
the disabled, the State Attorney for the 13th Judicial Circuit in Tampa,
Florida released a two sentence statement in response to a criminal
complaint filed with their office as the result of a clear and unequivocal
denial of the rights of a person with a disability accompanied by a service
dog that condones discrimination against the disabled. This two sentence
statement, released by Mark Cox, Chief of Investigations for the state
Attorney, stated.
