Gary,

The Southern CT Chapter that meets in Milford draws members & folks from Bridgeport, Stratford,Milford, West Haven & New Haven.

There has been consideration of moving or finding another location, but we haven’t been able to find another place to accommodate us for free and we have been using the fowler building for almost 18 years now.

There is not enough folks in any of the above towns that are interested in beating the bushes and get people interested in coming out to meetings.

Thanks Nathaniel. Excuse my ignorance how far is Milford from Bridgeport. Do we have enough people in Bridgeport to start a chapter there.

Elizabeth,

I want to take a minute to answer your question regarding a National
Federation of the Blind chapter closer to Bridgeport. We have a chapter
that meets in Milford, the Southern Connecticut Chapter. Most NFB members
from Bridgeport attend this chapter. The meeting location at the Fowler
Memorial Building in Milford is half a block from a major bus line and maybe
two blocks from the Milford Metro North train station. And yes, I am a
member of the chapter.

We usually meet on the second Saturday of the month at 1:30 P.M. or 2:00
P.M. However, in December our holiday party is on the first Saturday,
December 3; our January meeting, on January 14, will host the affiliate
board meeting and will begin around 11:00 A.M. and probably end around 2:00
P.M. or 3:00 P.M. For more details, interested persons can contact our
president, Encole Stewart at (203) 923-2191--or myself, of course...
