All,

This is so unbelievably important for every blind student in America. Please take just five minutes before 4:30pm today to call. Please inform the office that you are indeed a resident of Connecticut and how important this is. It would be incredible to have the lead Dem co-sponsor be from our amazing state.

We really really need to push forward today and make it a point to call Congressman by 4:30pm today!

Thank you in advance.

Love,

Kate

Hello, fellow Federationists.

We're starting to make progress on getting AIMHEA before the House of Representatives. Please read this e-mail, and another I'm going to forward, carefully, and contact Joe Courtney as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please get in touch with me, or with Gabe Cazares in the national office, whose contact info is below.

Thanks.

Subject: Time-Sensitive: Please Call Congressman Courtney's Office Regarding the AIM HE Act

Fellow Federationists,

Thanks to your hard work, we are very close to introducing the Accessible Instructional Materials in Higher Education ( <https://www.nfb.org/aim_he> AIM HE) Act in the U.S. House of Representatives. As you know, Congressman Phil Roe from Tennessee has agreed to serve as the bill’s sponsor, and over the last few weeks, we have been working to identify a lead democratic cosponsor. One of the offices that has expressed significant interest is the office of Congressman Joe Courtney from Connecticut’s 2nd congressional district. Now, we need to encourage Mr. Courtney to commit to serve as the AIM HE Act’s lead democratic cosponsor, so we can introduce the bill before the House adjourns for the remainder of the election season.

Please call Congressman Courtney’s office today, Friday September 16, and encourage him to be the lead democratic cosponsor for the Accessible Instructional Materials in Higher Education Act. Congressman Courtney’s Washington D.C. office phone number is (202) 225-2076. If you are a resident of Enfield, Stafford, Putnam, Tolland, Coventry, Windham, Plainfield, Sterling, Griswold, Voluntown, Norwich, Colchester, East Hampton, Montville, Ledyard, Stonington, New London, Old Saybrook, or Clinton, Congressman Courtney represents you. In addition to encouraging the Congressman to serve as the lead democratic cosponsor, please identify yourself as a constituent. This makes a difference.

Fellow Federationists, regardless of whether or not you are a constituent of Congressman Courtney’s district, he needs to hear from NFB of Connecticut members today. Please call his office, (202) 225-2076, and encourage him to be a champion for blind and print disabled students by serving as the lead democratic cosponsor for the Accessible Instructional Materials in Higher Education Act. Thank you for all you do to ensure blind people can live the lives we want. Let’s go build the Federation!

Best,

...Gabe

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
