Hello, all.
This is a link to the latest version of Substitute House Bill 7214, which will make it a class C misdemeanor to harass or interfere with a guide or assistance dog, or the handler of such dog.
The bill is still with the Legislative Commissioner's Office, where it has been since April 18. It may be placed on the House calendar next week. From what I've heard, the members of the House are generally favoring the bill. There are some questions concerning some language in the bill, such as whether the word "intentionally" should be included.
I'm watching this bill closely, and I'll keep everyone posted.
To become law, the bill needs to be passed first by the House, and then by the Senate. The General Assembly is not in session this week, but beginning next week we should be prepared to contact our representatives in the House to advocate.
