Dear Graduates of the Guide Dog Foundation and America's VetDogs, 

 

On January 19, 2018, Delta Airlines announced that as of March 1, 2018, it would institute new requirements for anyone flying with a service or support animal after March 1, 2018. We know that you will have many questions about these new requirements. 

 

We understand the burdens these rules place on people with disabilities, and we recognize how stressful flying is these days and the difficulties our graduates can face when traveling with their guide or service dogs.

 

We are advocating on your behalf regarding the implementation of these requirements by offering to work with Delta to modify or change these new rules.

What you need to know:


If you have a guide dog, hearing dog or service dog for a physical disability, you will need to download and complete the required Trained Service Animal Request PDF form and submit it at least 48 hours prior to your flight. You can download the form at

This form has two sections. The first section is the instructions. The second section is to be completed by your veterinarian. This form is good for one year. 

 

If you are not able to get the form completed by your veterinarian, you can submit a vaccination record. It must contain your full name or Delta Sky Miles number, the rabies and distemper vaccination dates, and the contact information for your veterinarian. 

 

Next, upload the form as part of an Accessibility Service Request to: https://delta.com/mytrips/ <https://guidedog.us15.list-manage.com/track/click?u=386320ba1ae54c3b653a37087&id=26083efd66&e=162cc5a664> [BK1] 

 

When you arrive at the airport, go to the Delta ticket counter to have your service request verified by a Delta employee. Your request is not confirmed until your animal is visually verified at the airport check-in counter. 

 

Keep the original form with you at all times during your travel.

What these rules do not require: 


You will not need: 

*        your school-provided ID card

*        A time-limited health certificate
