Subject: [Ct-nfb] NFB National Scholarships!

Fellow NFB of Connecticut Members and Friends,

Each year the National Federation of the Blind awards 30 scholarships ranging from $3,000 up to $12,000 to worthy blind students from across the country. We award them at our National Convention, which will be July 7 to 12 in Las Vegas. The deadline is March 31. Now is the time to get your application ready!

Please find attached additional information and FAQs. Applications can be submitted online, but don’t wait to the last minute: you’ll need to collect your transcript and letters of recommendation. And you’ll need to schedule an interview with the state affiliate president: in Connecticut, if you don’t know, it’s Maryanne Melley.

I personally was a scholarship winner when I was in college. The money was great, of course, and with the cost of college today it likely is even better. Even more powerful, though, was the opportunity to attend our National Federation of the Blind National Convention and be mentored by successful blind people in a whole host of exciting careers. As an engineering student I had no idea that there really were so many blind people in so many branches of engineering.

Many students from Connecticut have also won scholarships, too. Will you be the next one?

If you do have questions, feel free to reach out to me directly. My very best, and please don’t wait until the last minute so you can make as strong an application as possible.

Nathanael Wales
