Beth and Lucia,
The forwarded may interest our parents of blind children here in Connecticut, too (and anywhere nationwide, really). I invite you to distribute to all you know. Let me know, and I'd be glad to forward this to our listserve.

Subject: [blParent] Free Seminar, Why Observational Learning Just Doesn't Cut It for Blind Students
Please come and join us for a free virtual seminar presented through a collaborative effort of the New York State Braille Enrichment for Literacy and Learning (BELL) Academy, and the New York Parents of Blind Children Division.
This seminar will be held using the Zoom platform and will take place on Thursday evening, the 21st of October 2021, from 6:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Come and discover why observational learning just doesn’t cut it for blind children and students and, more importantly, how to use other methods to help blind students to meet the same high expectations that their sighted peers are held to, at home, at school, and in the community.
We will explore the pros and cons of observational learning for blind and sighted learners, discuss the benefits and challenges to hands-on learning, and examine the barriers to implementing hands-on-learning, and how to overcome them.
This content is especially valuable to parents of blind children and TVIs, however, O & M and AT instructors, OT and PT therapists, and anyone else who works with, lives with, or cares about the futures of blind children are welcome to attend and can benefit from this information.
Please share this with anyone you think may find this presentation of interest. There will be door prizes, a Q & A segment, and an electronic handout available.
