Dear Federation Family, friends, and partners,

Many of you have already heard and perhaps many of you have not. On
Wednesday, November 23rd in the early morning, Steven Famiglietti and his
partner Cory Richmond were stuck and killed by a speeding driver on Blue
Hills Avenue. The driver has been charged with two counts of second-degree
manslaughter and reckless driving. For those of us who knew Steve this is of
little solace. I first met Steve at Vision Dynamics at the beginning of my
vision loss journey. I last saw him at the National Federation of the Blind
of Connecticut state convention on November 4, 2022. If you knew Steve, he
was as kind and caring the first time I met him as on the last. I personally
got to know Steve well when I worked for Silver Lining Technologies. Our
office was in the NEAT (New England Assistive Technology) building on the
Oak Hill campus. Steve's office was around the corner from mine. When I
would eat lunch, I'd join the employees of NEAT. We had a grand time. Steve
and I were the only people with guide dogs, so we had a lot to talk about.
Steve was a kind and patient teacher of many assistive technology
apparatuses for the blind and visually impaired. There are no words that
describe how much he will be missed by me and all that new him. Below please
find information on his wake and service. God bless you Steve, may he hold
you in the palm of His hand.
