Subject: BESB Announcement
On behalf of Commissioner Porter, please see the announcement below shared
with BESB earlier:
BESB colleagues,
I am pleased to share that we have hired a new director at BESB, Carol
Jenkins. Carol will be coming to us from the Nebraska Commission for the
Blind and Visually Impaired (NCBVI). Carol shares that her connection with
NCBVI started as a client, and then she worked on their Board of
Commissioners. Here's a little more about her journey, in her own words:
"From there, I became a vocational rehabilitation counselor working for
NVBVI because I wanted to improve the lives of people with disabilities.
After this, I became the supervisor of the Nebraska Center for the Blind,
which is NCBVI's certified structured discovery blindness training center. I
then became the Deputy Director of Services at NCBVI where I oversee all
services and programs for the whole agency. I am passionate about improving
the lives of individuals with disabilities and want to do all that I can to
make a positive difference in people's lives."
Carol joins our ADS/BESB team on November 18th and we are excited to welcome
her to Connecticut!
Be well,
Amy
