[Diabetes-talk] QUESTION

If you have a reading that low, do a second test. If it also is low and
you are fairly certain that you have gotten enough blood on the strip,
treat for the low. Generally, one does this by following the
"fifteen-fifteen rule", that is, eating fifteen grams of carbohydrate,
waiting fifteen minutes and then testing again, eating fifteen more
grams of carb if the reading is still low. By "low", The American
Diabetes Association now means below 70 mg/dl. Many authorities say one
should treat if the reading is below 80 mg/dl and one does not
anticipate eating immediately.

Subject: [Diabetes-talk] QUESTION

This morning, when I got up, I did my fasting glucose test for the day,
and
had a reading of 52 milligrams per decileder. I know that this is low,

But should I react, or treat it like a normal day. I know that I can be
asymptomatic, but at what point do I just grab the bull by the horns,
and do
things differently?please advise. Thanks.

Paul
