Hi Rachael,
The thing is that you need to keep logs. My husband is doing it for me. I assured them before the transplant that I would be able to give them all this information. Actually, they have put everything in email attachments, so I would have no trouble filling out all the information. I seem to recall they wanted you to have complications to be eligible for this study. I had been applying for these islet transplants for about 10 years and was always turned down because of my kidneys. This newer study is not using anything that damages the kidneys. My doctor really likes my guidedog and I think they have other people with guidedogs. I think there are about 5 universities doing the same study. If you want, I would be happy to send you the phone number of the coordinator in San Francisco. I'm sure she can give you all the info you want. Let me know.
How long has your husband had diabetes and is it type 1?
