[Diabetes-talk] Questions regarding discarding old meters and more

Hi All,
I have just purchased the Prodigy Voice from the Federations' Independence Market and am looking forward to upgrading my meter. As a result, I have some questions for the list. 

1. Are the test strips easily findable at local drugstores, such as Walgreens?

2. Since I am replacing my old original Prodigy meter (I think it was one of the original talking meters) with this new one should I keep the older meter as backup?

3. I still have my original meter (an Acu-Check VoiceMate that I am no longer using. What is the best way of disposing of it?
