[Diabetes-talk] type 1 diabetics read this story won't comethrough

I'd take this with more than a few grains of salt! To be sure, there are
mavericks in the science community (Denise Faustman is one) whose work
has more trouble garnering research dollars than so-called mainstram
projects. But this has more to do with the natural trends in science to
adhere to accepted norms in thinking than it does to any supposed
conspiracy by Big Pharma to suppress valid research.
Also, often stories of supposed breakthroughs actually turn out not to
be so revolutionary and end up being mostly hype to generate publicity
and research dollars for particular colleges and universities than they
are absolute breakthroughs. Read Dr. Billl Quick's share-posts sometime;
they're eye-openers.
Re Ms. Faustman: actually, I think her research actually now is getting
some $$$ so if her thesis pans out, we'll know soon.
The one quarrel I have with medical research is that it is not accepted
practice to have the sort of no-holds-barred criticism and often
attempts to replicate that is the norm in, say, physics or chemistry.
Cold fusion anyone?

Sorry about that the story wouldn't go through some kind of applicatopn
error.
It is a story about how 12 years ago a man discovered how to cure type 1
diabetes with adult stem cellls and Big Pharma completely ignore the
discovery
