I read Mike's message and I would like to suggest where all of you might
start.
Most towns have a town Health Service. I have called up mine and asked if
I might meet with a couple of their visiting nurses. They jumped on this
opportunity to here from a blind diabetic that self manages her own
diabetes.
I brought such things as talking glucose meter, Count-a-dose Talking RX,
small tape recorder and a smile. I spoke about how when I suddenly went
blind 12 years ago medical professionals did not know anything about these
things and advised me and my family to go home and let the family take
care of my diabetes. It was through the NFB that I learned about these things.
Many of the people I have done this with had not known or seen such
devices.
So then when they went out to visit folks they had a better idea of how
to help those loosing sight with diabetes.
