First, welcome to the list. I don't recall seeing posts from you before.
Second, although I respect your wish not to take shots, the fear is much
worse than the reality. The reality is that insulin is your friend; in
my estimation, one can manage far better using insulin than one can
using oral meds.
Finally, my favorite snack is a handful of peanuts or cashoos. You get
some carb and enough protein to release more carb as the night
progresses.
I wonder if the timing of your meds is a bit off. I'd seriously consider
your doctor's recommendation for shots; perhaps you need basal insulin
to tame that Simogyi efect. Or perhaps you need to cut back on your
nighttime meds a bit or change the timing.
That's between you and your doctor.
Mike Freeman

i have trouble with low blood sugars in the night
do you have ideas of what to eat before i go to bed
i usually lay down around eight thirty and wake up after two in the
morning
with bad sweats, and night mares then my sugar is high the next morning
it stays at a good level all during the day
i eat my meals and snacks at the same time just about every day my
evening
meal is usually about five p.m.
i have been using graham crakers, boiled eggs, and maybe cream cheese
some
times
it is not working and i am tired of crackers
i take metformin and prandin
i need snack ideas for night time should i eat in the middle of night
my doctor suggest shots but i do not want to do that
